Hosting companies make money by selling packages, the more expensive the package the more likely they will make more money. Many web hosts will limit the amount of data you can transfer under a hosting package. So if you order a hosting package with a set amount of data transfer, you may find that you cannot increase the amount, or it is limited to a maximum allowance. If you exceed that allowance you would then have to upgrade to their next hosting package which can sometimes cost allot more. At Web Mania, we do not use these practices, we offer our web hosting package with 15GB of data transfer, as that will cover a majority of web sites, but if you need extra it is very simply to buy. You just log into the control panel and you can then purchase as much data transfer as you like. For example, if you wanted to buy an extra 5GB of data transfer you would simply purchase this in the control panel, the extra 5GB will then get added to your hosting account and will remain on your account until it is used up. If you do not use up all of the extra you purchased in a month, the remainder is carried forward to the following month. An example of how the data transfer works. You do not need to worry about the amount your site transfers, our system keeps an eye on your account, it then tries to predict if your account will go over the allowance, if it does, the system will send you an email to let you know. At this stage you may decide to make changes to your web site so that you do not exceed the data transfer allowance. If you let your web site continue as it is, it will let you know approximately 3 days before you exceed the limit and finally once again when you have exceeded the limit. If your site does exceed the limit and you do not buy extra data transfer, your web hosting account will show a "data transfer exceeded" page.
